They always say that kids can be brutally honest and have no filter. The kids who danced at the Funhouse were just like that for a lot of artists who performed on stage. I can remember telling Loleatta Holloway before she went on stage to be prepared for a few boos. And I was right because I knew they wouldn’t react to her hit songs “Hit And Run” and “Love Sensation” because they weren’t songs the kids knew. But when Loleatta finally performed “Crash Goes Love” those kids went nuts and when she said “Where’s the beef” all the boys started barking. It was so much fun to watch! She came back to the dressing room which was connected to the dj booth totally surprised. Moral of the story….know your audience! 😁

My shout outs: Tony Humphries’ overlooked mix of Rainy Davis “Sweetheart”, King of Funhouse hits, Arthur Baker’s mix & production of Loleatta “Crash Goes Love”, Jellybean John Benitez’s early freestyle Funhouse staple “A Letter From Afar” and Jay Negron’s slamming edit of Secret Weapon “Must Be The Music”! Hope you can tune in and listen to my “Classic Beats & Rhythms” Funhouse club mix Pt 2 on Sirius XM Studio 54 channel 54 @ 9pm EST Tonight and on Monday @ 2am EST!
