For the 3rd week in a row, I hope we’re all safe and not sorry during this crisis. Unfortunately this week we did lose a musical pioneer, Manu Dibango. I can remember as a teenager in NYC hearing “Soul Makossa” for the first time and besides being blown away, I realized music was truly universal. We didn’t even know what Manu was saying in the song and we loved it. Condolences to the Dibango family. We will miss you Manu, RIP! 🙏🏾 Fitting that I’m taking you to Paradise Garage on tonight’s show since Larry Levan’s music tastes were just as universal! 😁

My shout out this week goes to one of my favorite reworks, Derek Kaye’s superb take of Players Association’s “Turn The Music Up”. I remember the first time I heard the original and immediately loved this jam was at Studio 54 with my mentor DJ Richie Kaczor on the turntables.

Hope you can tune in and listen to “Classic Beats & Rhythms” Paradise Garage disco mix on Sirius XM Studio 54 channel 54 @ 9pm EST tonight and on Monday @ 2am EST. And if you miss tonight’s show, it’ll be on my Mixcloud page next Tuesday…extended!
